Heywood Academy Blog - 13.6.25
After the success of the family meeting, that we held last month, and the excitement of meeting new families and seeing our fantastic new school being constructed, I wanted to share our recent developments with you.
Last week, we had a meeting with the building contractors, Tilbury Douglas, to finalise some of the fixtures and furniture, the line markings for the sports hall and MUGA areas, ready for our students to access. They also informed that the outer brickwork has nearly been completed and there has been progress with the rendering, when the weather has permitted.
We have also had a meeting regarding the IT equipment and iPads. As I mentioned in the family meeting, a lot of the schools within the New Bridge Multi Academy Trust either hold or are working towards the ‘Apple Distinguished School’ status and work closely with Apple for national, regional and worldwide events. This status is something that we will be working towards at Heywood Academy. In support of this, all of our students and staff will have access to the use of an iPad to support and engage teaching and learning in a creative and innovative way.
Alongside having a brand new school, another exciting factor for Mrs Needham (Director for Curriculum and Assessment) and myself was recruiting our fabulous teaching team at Heywood Academy over the last few months. Last week, we sent letters to families indicating who your new form tutor is, along with their teaching profile. I wanted to share with you the staffing team we have in place for September who will be teaching the curriculum offer.

What a talented skillset they have and it was a pleasure to interview as there was a very strong field for all the posts recruited to.
The next recruitment to take place is the site manager, pastoral and safeguarding lead and then our wonderful TAs who are the backbone of any school. I will keep you posted on the newest recruits.
As discussed in the family event, I know you are keen to have another tour of our new school and I will be working with Tilbury Douglas to secure a date for another tour when the classrooms start to take shape and have fixtures and furniture in. As soon as we have a date, I will inform families of when this will be.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
